General Employment Application – Always Accepting Applications
Join Our Growing Team – General Application
We’re always accepting applications!
At Rockledge Gardens, we believe great teams grow just like great gardens—with care, patience, hard work, and the right people. Even when we don’t have a specific position posted, we are always interested in meeting friendly, dependable people who may be a great fit for our team now or in the future.
If you enjoy working with people, being outdoors, staying active, learning new things, and being part of a local business and community, we’d love to hear from you.
About Working at Rockledge Gardens
Rockledge Gardens is a garden center, which means our workplace looks a little different from a traditional retail store or office. Much of our work takes place outdoors or in open-air spaces, surrounded by plants, trees, flowers, soil, sunshine, and, of course, Florida weather.
Depending on the position, team members may spend much of their day standing, walking, lifting, watering, stocking, assisting customers, moving plants or merchandise, working at a register, maintaining displays, or helping keep the garden center clean, organized, and welcoming.
It can be hot. It can rain. You might get a little dirty. And no two days are exactly the same.
For the right person, that is part of what makes working here special.
Who We’re Looking For
You do not have to be a plant expert to apply. While plant knowledge and garden center experience are always valuable, we also appreciate people who are curious, willing to learn, dependable, and genuinely enjoy helping others.
Some of the qualities we value include:
A positive and welcoming attitude
Dependability and good attendance
Willingness to learn and ask questions
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work well with a team
Initiative and willingness to jump in when something needs to be done
Comfort working in an active, outdoor environment
Care for our customers, coworkers, plants, property, and community
Flexibility as daily needs and priorities change
Most importantly, we are looking for people who want to contribute to the experience our customers have when they visit Rockledge Gardens.
Types of Opportunities
Our staffing needs change throughout the year, and opportunities may become available in different areas of the garden center. Depending on current needs, positions may include areas such as customer service, cashiering, plant sales and care, nursery operations, stocking and merchandising, receiving, maintenance, landscaping or grounds support, events, food and beverage, administrative support, and other garden center operations.
Some positions may be seasonal, part-time, or full-time. Scheduling needs can also vary by department and time of year.
Submitting a general application does not mean that we currently have an opening in your preferred area, and it does not guarantee an interview or employment. However, it gives us an opportunity to learn a little about you and consider your application when a position becomes available that may be a good match.
What It's Like Here
Rockledge Gardens is more than a place where people come to buy plants. For many of our customers, visiting the gardens is an experience. People come here to explore, learn, find inspiration, spend time with family and friends, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with our local community.
Our employees are an important part of creating that experience.
Whether you are helping someone choose their first houseplant, answering a question, loading a customer's purchase, caring for the plants, keeping an area looking beautiful, ringing up a sale, preparing for an event, or simply greeting someone with a smile, your work matters.
We want our customers to feel welcomed, acknowledged, and cared for from the time they arrive until the time they leave.
That takes a team.
A Few Things to Know Before Applying
Because we are a garden center, many of our positions involve physical activity and exposure to outdoor conditions. Depending on the role, employees may work in heat, humidity, rain, dirt, and changing weather conditions. Positions may also involve standing or walking for extended periods and lifting or moving merchandise and plant material.
Weekend availability may be important for many positions because weekends are some of our busiest times. Scheduling requirements will vary depending on the department and position.
If you are looking for a traditional indoor retail environment, this may not be the right workplace for you. But if the idea of working around plants, people, sunshine, and a little dirt sounds like a pretty good workday, you may feel right at home here.
