Nursery and Customer Service Manager
This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys working with people AND plants. Our Nursery and Customer Service Manager helps keep the day-to-day garden center running smoothly, supports our team on the sales floor, and makes sure every customer has a welcoming, helpful, and memorable experience.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk management position. You'll be out in the garden center working alongside the team, helping customers, solving problems, answering sales calls, jumping on a register when needed, loading products, and helping wherever the day takes you.
What You'll Do
As Nursery and Customer Service Manager, you'll:
Be a visible, approachable leader throughout the garden center
Provide excellent customer service and help resolve customer concerns
Lead by example and work alongside the team
Coach and train employees on customer service, sales techniques, and products
Help lead morning meetings and communicate daily priorities
Monitor the sales floor and make sure customers and departments have the support they need
Help keep the team informed and motivated around sales goals
Assist with employee concerns and help resolve workplace issues fairly and professionally
Open and/or close the garden center as a trusted keyholder
Respond to register backup, loading, sales calls, deliveries, and other needs
Make sure employees have the tools and resources they need to work safely and successfully
Work closely with the General Manager, owners, and management team to improve operations and the customer experience
Jump in and assist other departments when needed
Most importantly, you'll help create the friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming environment that makes Rockledge Gardens a special place to work and visit.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is comfortable leading people while still being willing to roll up their sleeves and work alongside them.
Qualifications include:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of greenhouse, nursery, garden center, or plant-related experience
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
Strong customer service and sales skills
Ability to train, motivate, delegate, and provide constructive feedback
Strong communication and organizational skills
Comfortable making decisions and solving problems in a busy environment
Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
Positive attitude, professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of teamwork
Ability to multitask and quickly adjust priorities
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors around plants, soil, fertilizers, equipment, customers, and coworkers
Must be available to work weekends and holidays, with additional hours during our busy spring season
This Is a Hands-On, Outdoor Position
Working at a garden center is active! This position requires regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
You must be comfortable working outdoors in Florida weather, including heat, humidity, rain, cold, dirt, plant materials, fertilizers, and other normal garden center conditions.
The position may also involve using hand tools, ladders, hand jacks, lifts, planting equipment, two-way radios, cash registers, phones, and other garden center equipment.
A Great Fit for Someone Who...
Enjoys helping people, loves plants, isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, can keep their cool on a busy Saturday, and understands that good leadership sometimes means jumping on a register, helping load a customer's car, answering a plant question, and supporting an employee—all in the same afternoon.
If you're looking for a management position where you can lead a team, work with plants, connect with customers, and be part of a unique local garden center, we'd love to hear from you.
